## Changes
- **Commit 1**: Remove 17 unnecessary `//nolint` directives:
- `//nolint:varnamelen` — linter not active
- `//nolint:unused` on exported `SlimUnsupported`
- `//nolint:govet` in `coderd/httpmw/csrf` — no longer fires
- `//nolint:revive` on functions refactored since the nolint was added
- `//nolint:paralleltest` citing Go 1.22 loop variable capture
(obsolete)
- Bare `//nolint` narrowed to specific `//nolint:gocritic` with
justification
- **Commit 2**: Fix root causes behind 5 dangerous nolint suppressions:
- Add `MinVersion: tls.VersionTLS12` to TLS client config (removes
`gosec` G402)
- Delete trivial unexported wrappers `apiKey()`/`normalizeProvider()` in
chatprovider (removes `revive` confusing-naming)
- Add doc comments to `StartWithAssert` and `Router` (removes `revive`
exported)
- Rename unused parameters to `_` in integration test helpers

Fixes all our Go file imports to match the preferred spec that we've _mostly_ been using. For example:
```
import (
"context"
"time"
"github.com/prometheus/client_golang/prometheus"
"golang.org/x/xerrors"
"gopkg.in/natefinch/lumberjack.v2"
"cdr.dev/slog/v3"
"github.com/coder/coder/v2/codersdk/agentsdk"
"github.com/coder/serpent"
)
```
3 groups: standard library, 3rd partly libs, Coder libs.
This PR makes the change across the codebase. The PR in the stack above modifies our formatting to maintain this state of affairs, and is a separate PR so it's possible to review that one in detail.
Upgrades to slog v3 which includes a small, but backward incompatible API change to the acceptible call arguments when logging. This change allows us to verify via compile time type checking that arguments are correct and won't cause a panic, as was possible in slog v1, which this replaces (v2 was tagged but never used in coder/coder).
It also updates dependencies that also use slog and were updated.
I've left the `aibridge` dependency as a commit SHA, under the assumption that the team there (cc @pawbana @dannykopping ) will tag and update the dependency soon and on their own schedule.
Other dependencies, I pushed new tags.
Add agent forwarding of boundary audit logs from workspaces to coderd
via agent API, and re-emission of boundary logs to coderd stderr. This
change adds a server to the workspace agent that always listens on a
unix socket for boundary to connect and send audit logs.
coderd log format example:
```
[API] 2025-12-23 18:31:46.755 [info] coderd.agentrpc: boundary_request owner=.. workspace_name=.. agent_name=.. decision=.. workspace_id=.. http_method=.. http_url=.. event_time=.. request_id=..
This fixes a regression that caused the VS code extension to be unable
to authenticate after making keyring usage on by default. This is
because the VS code extension assumes the CLI will always use the
session token stored on disk, specifically in the directory specified by
--global-config.
This fix makes keyring usage enabled when the --global-config directory
is not set. This is a bit wonky but necessary to allow the extension to
continue working without modification and without backwards compat
concerns. In the future we should modify these extensions to either
access the credential in the keyring (like Coder Desktop) or some other
approach that doesn't rely on the session token being stored on disk.
Tests:
`coder login dev.coder.com` -> token stored in keyring
`coder login --global-config=/tmp/ dev.coder.com` -> token stored in
`/tmp/session`
Make keyring usage for session token storage on by default for supported
platforms (Windows and macOS), with the ability to opt-out via
--use-keyring=false.
This change will be a breaking change for any users depending on the
session token being stored on disk, though users can restore file usage
via the flag above.
This change will also require CLI users to authenticate after updating.
Adds a `coder exp mcp` command which will start a local MCP server
listening on stdio with the following capabilities:
* Show logged in user (`coder whoami`)
* List workspaces (`coder list`)
* List templates (`coder templates list`)
* Start a workspace (`coder start`)
* Stop a workspace (`coder stop`)
* Fetch a single workspace (no direct CLI analogue)
* Execute a command inside a workspace (`coder exp rpty`)
* Report the status of a task (currently a no-op, pending task support)
This can be tested as follows:
```
# Start a local Coder server.
./scripts/develop.sh
# Start a workspace. Currently, creating workspaces is not supported.
./scripts/coder-dev.sh create -t docker --yes
# Add the MCP to your Claude config.
claude mcp add coder ./scripts/coder-dev.sh exp mcp
# Tell Claude to do something Coder-related. You may need to nudge it to use the tools.
claude 'start a docker workspace and tell me what version of python is installed'
```
Updating golden files is an unnecessary extra step in addition to gen
that is easily overlooked, leading to the developer noticing the issue
in CI leading to lost developer time waiting for tests to complete.
- Adds `testutil.GoleakOptions` and consolidates existing options to
this location
- Pre-emptively adds required ignore for this Dependabot PR to pass CI
* chore: allow CreateUser to accept multiple organizations
In a multi-org deployment, it makes more sense to allow for multiple
org memberships to be assigned at create. The legacy param will still
be honored.
* Handle sdk deprecation better by maintaining cli functions
* feat(cli): add golden tests for errors (#11588)
Creates golden files from `coder/cli/errors.go`.
Adds a unit test to test against golden files.
Adds a make file command to regenerate golden files.
Abstracts test against golden files.
* feat: convertGroups() no longer requires organization info
Removing role information from some users in the api. This info is
excessive and not required. It is costly to always include
Adds a Logger to cli Invocation and standardizes CLI commands to use it. clitest creates a test logger by default so that CLI command logs are captured in the test logs.
CLI commands that do their own log configuration are modified to add sinks to the existing logger, rather than create a new one. This ensures we still capture logs in CLI tests.
Fixes an issue where remote forwards are not correctly torn down when using OpenSSH with `coder ssh --stdio`. OpenSSH sends a disconnect signal, but then also sends SIGHUP to `coder`. Previously, we just exited when we got SIGHUP, and this raced against properly disconnecting.
- Adds dbtestutil.WithTimezone(tz) to allow setting the timezone for a test database.
- Modifies our test database setup code to pick a consistently weird timezone for the database.
- Adds the facility randtz.Name() to pick a random timezone which is consistent across subtests (via sync.Once).
- Adds a linter rule to warn against setting the test database timezone to UTC.
This change reduces the CPU consumption of --help by ~50%.
Also, this change removes ANSI escape codes from our golden files. I
don't think those were worth the inability to parallelize golden file tests and
global state fragility.
This change will improve over CLI performance and "snappiness" as well as
substantially reduce our test times. Preliminary benchmarks show
`coder server --help` times cut from 300ms to 120ms on my dogfood
instance.
The inefficiency of lipgloss disproportionately impacts our system, as all help
text for every command is generated whenever any command is invoked.
The `pretty` API could clean up a lot of the code (e.g., by replacing
complex string concatenations with Printf), but this commit is too
expansive as is so that work will be done in a follow up.
* chore: add /v2 to import module path
go mod requires semantic versioning with versions greater than 1.x
This was a mechanical update by running:
```
go install github.com/marwan-at-work/mod/cmd/mod@latest
mod upgrade
```
Migrate generated files to import /v2
* Fix gen
This feature is used by the coder agent to exchange a new token. By
protecting the SessionToken via mutex we ensure there are no data races
when accessing it.
Customer feedback indicated projects was a confusing name.
After querying the team internally, it seemed unanimous
that it is indeed a confusing name.
Here's for a lil less confusion @ashmeer7 🥂
* feat: Add agent authentication based on instance ID
Each cloud has it's own unique instance identity signatures, which
can be used for zero-token authentication. This change adds support
for tracking by "instance_id", and automatically authenticating
with Google Cloud.
* Add test for CLI
* Fix workspace agent request name
* Fix race with adding to wait group
* Fix name of instance identity token
