Cian Johnston c8b1fa3196 fix: use UTC day boundaries for chat auto-archive eligibility (#25597)
Fixes CODAGT-311.

Users receive too many auto-archive notification emails because the
dbpurge loop runs every 10 minutes and archives chats on each tick using
timestamp-precise cutoffs, causing chats to trickle past the threshold
continuously.

Switch archive eligibility from timestamp arithmetic to date arithmetic
(UTC day boundaries). All chats whose last activity falls on the same
UTC date are now archived together on the first tick after midnight UTC,
reducing notification emails to ~at most~ probably one per day.
(Exception: if we hit the auto-archive limit)

- SQL compares `(last_activity AT TIME ZONE 'UTC')::date` against cutoff
date
- Go truncates current time to start-of-day before subtracting archive
days
- Tests verify date boundary semantics including late-activity and batch
edge cases
- Docs updated to describe UTC day boundary behavior and at-most-daily
notification cadence

Michael Suchacz 2874d4b4cd feat: add chat debug retention purge (#24943)
> Mux is acting on Mike's behalf.

Adds configurable retention for chat debug data, including the purge
query, updated_at index, site config, experimental API, SDK types,
frontend lifecycle setting, and docs.

The purge deletes debug runs older than the configured retention window
and relies on existing cascades to delete steps. The default retention
is 30 days, and setting the value to 0 disables the purge.

Cian Johnston 70d6efa311 feat: chat auto-archive owner digest notifications (#24643)
Depends on #24642

Adds per-owner digest notifications onto the chat auto-archive
subsystem.

Each tick's archived rows are grouped by owner, the top 25 titles per
owner are rendered into a new `Chats Auto-Archived` notification
template, and any remainder surfaces as `and N more`. Each digest is
per-tick, so users with large amounts of purgeable data may get multiple
notifications in sequence (one per user per tick).

The template body branches on `retention_days`: when retention is
disabled (`retention_days=0`), users are told archived chats are kept
indefinitely rather than falsely claiming imminent deletion.

### Changes
- migration `000XXX_chat_auto_archive_notification_template` adds new
notification template
- `dbpurge`: threads `notifications.Enqueuer` through `New`; and
enqueues notification message.
- `cli/server.go`: passes `options.NotificationsEnqueuer` into
`dbpurge.New`.
- `coderd/notifications/events.go`: new `TemplateChatAutoArchiveDigest`
UUID.
- `coderd/inboxnotifications.go`: inbox registration.
- Docs: adds a `Notifications` section to `chat-auto-archive.md`.

Cian Johnston a876287d36 feat: auto-archive inactive chats with audit trail (#24642)
Adds a background job in `dbpurge` that periodically archives chats
inactive beyond a configurable threshold. Each archived root chat gets a
background audit entry tagged `chat_auto_archive`. Disabled by default.

* New `AutoArchiveInactiveChats` SQL query with LATERAL last-activity
subquery and partial index on archive candidates
* `site_configs`-backed `auto_archive_days` setting with admin-only PUT,
any-authenticated-user GET
* Cascade archive via `root_chat_id`; pinned chats and active threads
exempt
* Root-only audit dispatch on detached context, matching manual archive
(`patchChat`) behavior
* 11 subtests covering disabled no-op, boundary, deleted messages, child
activity, pinned exemption, multi-owner, idempotency, and batch
pagination

PR #24643 adds per-owner digest notifications.
PR #24704 adds the requisite UI controls.

Dean Sheather 3452ab3166 chore: add client_type field to chats and telemetry (#24342)
Add a `chat_client_type` enum (`ui` | `api`) and `client_type` column to
the `chats` table. The column defaults to `api` for new rows so API
callers don't need to set it explicitly. Existing rows are backfilled to
`ui`.

The field flows through `CreateChatRequest`, `chatd.CreateOptions`,
`InsertChat`, and is returned in the `Chat` response via `db2sdk`.

<details>
<summary>Implementation notes (Coder Agents generated)</summary>

### Changes

**Database migration (000469)**
- New enum `chat_client_type` with values `ui`, `api`.
- New `client_type` column, `NOT NULL DEFAULT 'api'`.
- Backfill: `UPDATE chats SET client_type = 'ui'`.

**SQL query** — `InsertChat` now includes `client_type`.

**SDK** — `ChatClientType` type added; `ClientType` field added to both
`CreateChatRequest` (optional, defaults server-side to `api`) and `Chat`
response.

**Handler** — `postChats` maps the request field (defaulting to `api`)
and passes it through `chatd.CreateOptions`.

**Sub-agent** — Child chats inherit their parent's `client_type`.

**db2sdk** — Maps the database value to the SDK type.

### Decision log
- Default is `api` (not `ui`) so existing API integrations get the
correct value without code changes.
- Backfill sets existing rows to `ui` per requirement.
- Child chats inherit `client_type` from parent rather than defaulting.

Jake Howell 59b71f296f feat: implement non-brittle TestDBPurgeAuthorization (#21442)
Closes #21440

The `TestDBPurgeAuthorization` test was overfitting by calling each
purge method individually, which reimplemented dbpurge logic in the test
and created a maintenance burden. When new purge steps are added, they
either need to be reflected in the test or there will be a testing
blindspot.

This change extracts the `doTick` closure into an exported `PurgeTick`
function that returns an error, making the core purge logic testable.
The test now calls `PurgeTick` directly to exercise the actual dbpurge
behavior rather than reimplementing it. Retention values are configured
to ensure all purge operations run, so we test RBAC permissions for all
code paths.

- Tests actual dbpurge behavior instead of reimplementing it
- Automatically covers new purge steps when they're added
- Still validates that all operations have proper RBAC permissions

The test focuses on authorization (checking for RBAC errors) rather than
verifying deletion behavior, which is already covered by other tests
like `TestDeleteExpiredAPIKeys` and `TestDeleteOldAuditLogs`.

Spike Curtis bddb808b25 chore: arrange imports in a standard way (#21452)
Fixes all our Go file imports to match the preferred spec that we've _mostly_ been using. For example:

```
import (
	"context"
	"time"
	"github.com/prometheus/client_golang/prometheus"
	"golang.org/x/xerrors"
	"gopkg.in/natefinch/lumberjack.v2"
	"cdr.dev/slog/v3"
	"github.com/coder/coder/v2/codersdk/agentsdk"
	"github.com/coder/serpent"
)
```

3 groups: standard library, 3rd partly libs, Coder libs.

This PR makes the change across the codebase. The PR in the stack above modifies our formatting to maintain this state of affairs, and is a separate PR so it's possible to review that one in detail.

Spike Curtis 49b34a716a fix: fix slog to always use array of Fields (#21426)
Upgrades to slog v3 which includes a small, but backward incompatible API change to the acceptible call arguments when logging. This change allows us to verify via compile time type checking that arguments are correct and won't cause a panic, as was possible in slog v1, which this replaces (v2 was tagged but never used in coder/coder).

It also updates dependencies that also use slog and were updated.

I've left the `aibridge` dependency as a commit SHA, under the assumption that the team there (cc @pawbana @dannykopping ) will tag and update the dependency soon and on their own schedule.

Other dependencies, I pushed new tags.

Mathias Fredriksson ad93262d07 fix(coderd/database/dbpurge): allow disabling AI Bridge retention with 0 (#21062)
Previously setting AI Bridge retention to 0 would cause records to be
deleted immediately since we didn't check for the zero value before
calculating the deletion threshold.

This adds a check for aibridgeRetention > 0 to skip deletion when
retention is disabled, matching the pattern used for other retention
settings (connection logs, audit logs, etc.).

Also fixes the return type of DeleteOldAIBridgeRecords from int32 to
int64 since COUNT(*) returns bigint in PostgreSQL.

Ethan f42de9fe12 chore!: delete old connection events from audit log (#18735)
### Breaking change (changelog note):
>With new connection events appearing in the Connection Log, connection events older than 90 days will now be deleted from the Audit Log. If you require this legacy data, we recommend querying it from the REST API or making a backup of the database/these events before upgrading your Coder deployment. Please see the PR for details on what exactly will be deleted.
Of note is that there are currently no plans to delete connection events from the Connection Log.

### Context

This is the fifth PR for moving connection events out of the audit log.

In previous PRs:
- **New** connection logs have been routed to the `connection_logs` table. They will *not* appear in the audit log.
- These new connection logs are served from the new `/api/v2/connectionlog` endpoint.

In this PR:
- We'll now clean existing connection events out of the audit log, if they are older than 90 days, We do this in batches of 1000, every 10 minutes.

The criteria for deletion is simple:
```
WHERE
(
     action = 'connect'
     OR action = 'disconnect'
     OR action = 'open'
     OR action = 'close'
)
AND "time" < @before_time::timestamp with time zone
```
where `@before_time` is currently configured to 90 days in the past.

Future PRs:
- Write documentation for the endpoint / feature

Any test that has set non-default `slogtest.Options` is left alone. In particular, `coderdtest` defaults to ignoring all errors. We might consider revisiting that decision now that we have better tools to target the really common flaky Error logs on shutdown.

Ethan 628750232f fix: delete workspace agent stats after 180 days (#14489)
Fixes #13430.

The test for purging old workspace agent stats from the DB was consistently failing when ran with Postgres towards the end of the month, but not with the in-memory DB.

This was because month intervals are calculated differently for `time.Time` and the `interval` type in Postgres:

```
ethan=# SELECT
    '2024-08-30'::DATE AS original_date,
    ('2024-08-30'::DATE - INTERVAL '6 months') AS sub_date;
 original_date |      sub_date
---------------+---------------------
 2024-08-30    | 2024-02-29 00:00:00
(1 row)
```

Using `func (t Time) AddDate(years int, months int, days int) Time`, where `months` is `-6`:
```
Original: 2024-08-30 00:00:00 +0000 UTC
6 Months Earlier: 2024-03-01 00:00:00 +0000 UTC
```

Since 6 months was chosen arbitrarily, we should be able to change it to 180 days, to remove any ambiguity between the in-memory DB, and the Postgres DB. The alternative solution would involve implementing Postgres' month interval algorithm in Go.

The UI only shows stats as old as 168 days (24 weeks), so a frontend change isn't required for the extra days of stats we lose in some cases.
