Refactors CLI tests of the `create` command as the first batch of tests refactored to take a PTY out of the loop.
One interesting difference I noticed between PTY and a direct pipe to standard in is that on the PTY we write `\r` to enter some input, but the kernel actually sends `\n` (or maybe `\r\n`) to the process, at least on Unix. (On windows we sent `\r\n` into the PTY). This is reflected in the implementation of the `Writer` , otherwise mostly inspired by the PTYTest equivalents.
## Problem
The CLI does not honor `default` values on template parameters in two
ways:
1. **`--use-parameter-defaults` rejects empty-string defaults.** The
check `parameterValue != ""` means `default = ""` in Terraform falls
through to an interactive prompt. In CI this causes an EOF error.
2. **`--use-parameter-defaults` only exists on `coder create`.** The
`start`, `update`, and `restart` commands never wire it through. SSH
auto-start passes empty `workspaceParameterFlags{}`, so users SSH-ing
into a stopped workspace with new template parameters get stuck in an
interactive prompt they cannot complete.
## Fix
### 1. Fix empty-string default detection and expose flag on all
commands
Replace `parameterValue != ""` with a check based on `!tvp.Required`. A
parameter with `Required==false` always has a valid default in
Terraform, even if that default is `""`. Also respect CLI defaults
provided via `--parameter-default`.
Move `--use-parameter-defaults` from a standalone option on `create`
into the shared `workspaceParameterFlags` struct. This exposes the flag
(and `CODER_WORKSPACE_USE_PARAMETER_DEFAULTS`) on `start`, `update`, and
`restart` via `allOptions()`. Wire it through
`buildWorkspaceStartRequest` so the resolver receives it.
### 2. SSH auto-start always uses defaults
Set `useParameterDefaults: true` on both `startWorkspace` calls in the
SSH auto-start path (initial start and the forbidden/upgrade fallback).
SSH is non-interactive and should never prompt.

### Scoping decisions
- **`--yes` does not imply `--use-parameter-defaults`**: Making `--yes`
auto-accept defaults exposes a validation gap in the dynamic parameter
path (client-side validation happens during prompting, and skipping
prompts bypasses it). This is deferred to a follow-up that also
addresses `codersdk.ValidateWorkspaceBuildParameter` integration in the
resolver. Tracked in PLAT-114.
- **Explicit overrides always win**: `--parameter`,
`--rich-parameter-file`, and `--preset` are resolved in stages 1-5 of
the resolver, before `resolveWithInput` runs. No change needed for
precedence.
- **`!tvp.Required` vs `parameterValue != ""`**: The `Required` field is
set by the Terraform provider based on whether a `default` is present.
This is the canonical signal for "has a default," not the string value
itself.

> Generated with [Coder Agents](https://coder.com/agents)
Adds a `--no-wait` flag (CODER_CREATE_NO_WAIT) to the create command,
matching the existing pattern in `coder start`. When set, the `coder
create` command returns immediately after the workspace creation API
call succeeds instead of streaming build logs until completion.
This enables fire-and-forget workspace creation in CI/automation
contexts (e.g., GitHub Actions), where waiting for the build to finish
is unnecessary. Combined with other existing flags, users can create a
workspace with no interactivity, assuming the user is already
authenticated.
The test was creating two template versions without explicit names,
relying on `namesgenerator.NameDigitWith()` which can produce
collisions. When both versions got the same random name, the test failed
with a 409 Conflict error.
Fix by giving each version an explicit name (`v1`, `v2`).

## Description
This PR improves the `coder templates presets` and `coder create` CLI
commands to include preset descriptions.
## Changes
* Added a `description` column to the `coder templates presets list` CLI
command.
* Fixed the `-o json` output for `coder templates presets list` to
correctly include and format data.
* Updated the `coder create` CLI command to display the preset's
description in the selection menu.
Follow-up from:
* https://github.com/coder/coder/pull/18910
* https://github.com/coder/coder/pull/18912
* https://github.com/coder/coder/pull/18977
## Description
This PR introduces a `--preset` flag for the `create` command to allow
users to apply a predefined preset to their workspace build.
## Changes
- The `--preset` flag on the `create` command integrates with the
parameter resolution logic and takes precedence over other sources
(e.g., CLI/env vars, last build, etc.).
- Added internal logic to ensure that preset parameters override
parameters values during resolution.
- Updated tests and added new ones to cover these flows.
## Implementation logic
* If a template has presets and includes a default, the CLI will
automatically use the default when `--preset` is not specified.
* If a template has presets but no default, the CLI will prompt the user
to select one when `--preset` is not specified.
* If a template does not have presets, the CLI will not prompt the user
for a preset.
* If the user specifies a preset using the `--preset` flag, that preset
will be used.
* If the user passes `--preset None`, no preset will be applied.
This logic aligns with the behavior in the UI for consistency.
```
> coder create --help
USAGE:
coder create [flags] [workspace]
Create a workspace
- Create a workspace for another user (if you have permission):
$ coder create <username>/<workspace_name>
OPTIONS:
(...)
--preset string, $CODER_PRESET_NAME
Specify the name of a template version preset. Use 'none' to explicitly indicate that no preset should be used.
(...)
-y, --yes bool
Bypass prompts.
```
## Breaking change
**Note:** This is a breaking change to the create CLI command. If a
template includes presets and the user does not provide a `--preset`
flag, the CLI will now prompt the user to select one. This behavior may
break non-interactive scripts or automated workflows.

* feat: influence parameter defaults through cli flag/env
Add a --parameter-default flag / CODER_RICH_PARAMETER_DEFAULT
environment variable which overrides default values suggested for
parameters.
This allows scripts or middleware wrapping the CLI to substitute
defaults for parameter values beyond those defined at the template
level. For example, Git repository/branch parameters can be given
defaults based on the current checkout, or default parameter values can
be parsed out of files inside the repo.
* Rename defaults arg to defaultOverrides
* Detects the following pattern where the CLI is initialized with a client authenticated as the "first user":
client := coderdtest.New(t, ...)
[...]
user := coderdtest.CreateFirstUser(t, client)
[...]
clitest.SetupConfig(t, client, root)
